As the son of former Japanese national volleyball team ace Kei Shishiya, Gaku takes on the role of ace for his middle school club team, but he doesn't feel like being an attacker suits him. One day, Gaku's father visits him at practice, but ends up mentoring another player, Noboru, after noticing his special talent for spiking the ball, and promises to make him the best volleyball player in Japan.
