Betelgeuses MuvLuv Alternative: Total Eclipse Review
This review has the objective to clarify the score that I gave to MuvLuv Alternative: Total Eclipse. To Begin with if youre not interested in reading manga I cant convince someone to watch the show since it doesnt a have clear ending. This show ending was later written into a continuation of the manga MuvLuv Alternative: Total Eclipse Rising. So if you want to enjoy the show at his fullest I highly recommend you to watch the sequel. As for the spinoffs I cant tell anything since I havent watched or read the manga.
Story: 6/10
This story doesnt change from your normal Invansion/Apocaliptic world and it follows a bunch of test pilots that have to perform multiple exercises to secure the frontlines that their mechas are able to run. The invansion happens after the mankind reaches the moon since the alien race BETA was there dormant. The actual plot happens in the year 2000s and it follows mostly the MC named Yuuya Bridges a JapaneseAmerican Test Pilot. The first three episodes will be the introduction of the heroine Yui and the fight for Japan as they struggle to the defend their homeland of the Invansion. To remind that you might not see a lot of action has you expect from a Invansion/War as the MCs are test pilots.
Animation: 7/10
The animation throught the show is solid with no badly designed scenes or overly enthusiastic movements of the mechas. For 2012 animation I can say I was expecting a bit more. Sometimes the show may look bland but it excels on Mecha fights.
Soundtrack: 7/10
The music was great and the first Opening is catchy if you like shows for the music atleast try out the OP on Youtube. The OSTs are great too and are very well displayed in the fight scenes.
Overall: 7.1/10.0
Overall I can say I enjoyed the show despite the lack of a clear ending though I will read the manga I cant establish a higher score for this. If you like a Mecha show with a sparkle of an Harem you can count on it to bring you the joy that you need. The show can also be considered Comedy and Action since both genres are highly involved in the show premises.
I hope this helps you understand a little bit of the show and goodbye until next time.
