Jong-Hun Lee

이종훈, Lee Jonghoon
Always Setting the Pace In the countryside where LEE Jonghoon grew up the only entertainment were videos and TV. Then he discovered Disney cartoons. From a young age he dreamed of making animated films. He enrolled in an art academy near his middle school and prepared for the entrance exam for a high school specializing in animation. His three years in high school were spent exploring the world of Japanese animation introduced to him by peers in his dormitory. In 2007 LEE began to study animation in university though his graduation exhibition for his film The Starry Night was belatedly held in 2017. After twice taking a break from his university studies he joined together with members of the 2013 class and formed the collaborative team VCRWORKS. After leaving for a year to work in a company he returned in 2015 to head the animation projects at VCRWORKS transforming it into a publishing and film production company. At the end of 2016 VCRWORKS released a music video that was broadcast to a wider audience. It was inspired by the candlelight vigils and the spirit of resistance and grief that swept the nation. As an artist and codirector of a collaborative team LEE always strives to bring out the best from each individual and the groupsometimes quickly sometimes slowly but always taking the lead.
